From Internships to Careers in Manufacturing: Success Stories at Gemini Group

Collage of former Gemini Group interns who built successful careers in engineering, manufacturing, and accounting
Gemini Group offers hands-on manufacturing, technology, and engineering internships in Michigan, Ohio, Alabama, Texas, and Saltillo, Mexico. Many of our interns go on to build long-term careers with us—and this blog celebrates just a few of their stories.

How Manufacturing Internships Can Launch Lifelong Careers

Internships aren’t just about gaining experience. They’re about discovering your strengths, exploring new paths, and building relationships that last. For these former interns, that first opportunity turned into something more.

Dave Jimpkoski: Manufacturing Engineering Intern - Aluminum Extrusion Tooling

Dave got his start at Gemini Group as a Manufacturing Engineering Intern back in 2012. Over the years, he’s taken on engineering roles across multiple divisions—supporting both engineered plastic products and metal tooling divisions—before stepping into leadership.

Today he serves as the Plant Manager of our forge tooling company, bringing more than a decade of experience and dedication to the role.

Michaela Le Jeune, former engineering intern in aluminum extrusion tooling, now Automation and Order Processing Manager

Michaela Le Jeune: CNC Programming, Safety, Quality, and Engineering Intern - Aluminum Extrusion Tooling

Michaela’s first internship with Gemini Group was in 2016, her senior year of high school. She returned every summer over the next three years while pursuing her engineering degree.

Today she’s the Automation and Integration Manager and Order Processing Leader for our aluminum extrusion tooling company, helping keep our systems running smoothly.

Zac Priemer: Engineering Intern - Automotive Interior Trim

Zac started in 2014 as an intern in engineering while pursuing his degree and has since held engineering positions at multiple Gemini Group companies.

He’s currently our Manufacturing/Design Engineer for our technical blow molding company, where he supports key product development and tooling efforts.

Mike Cregeur, technical intern in plastic extrusion, now Press Tooling Engineering Supervisor at Gemini Group

Mike Cregeur: Technical Engineering Intern - Plastic Extrusion

Mike spent two years as a technical engineering intern before being hired full-time as a Press Tooling Engineer for our aluminum extrusion tooling company.

Since then, he’s been promoted to Press Tooling Leader and now serves as Press Tooling Engineering Supervisor and Technical Support—leading the charge in precision and performance.

Mitchell Foot: Accounting Intern - Plastic Extrusion

Mitchell began as an Accounting Intern and now works in the department full-time while pursuing his accounting degree.

He’s balancing school and work as he builds a solid foundation in finance and operations.

Emily McCormick: Engineering Intern - Plastic Extrusion

Emily’s path was anything but typical. She started as an engineering intern while earning a degree in graphic design—and today she’s an accountant for our plastic extrusion company. Her adaptability and curiosity have made her a valuable part of the team.

Emily Geiger: Quality Assurance Intern - Automotive Interior Trim

Emily joined Gemini Group as a Quality Assurance Intern at our automotive interior trim company while pursuing her degree in business management. After graduating, she transitioned directly into a full-time role as Customer Quality Liaison. Her internship gave her firsthand experience with plant operations and built the foundation for her current role—and for continued growth within the organization.

Mikel Good: Engineering Intern - Plastic Extrusion

Mikel joined us in 2024 as an Engineering Intern and quickly got hands-on with real-world projects—programming a CNC router, designing and building assembly equipment, developing work instructions, and creating a layout for a new work cell. He’ll be back with us this summer, and we’ve got some exciting automation projects lined up for him.

Wade Messing: CAD Intern - Plastic Extrusion

Wade first came to us as a CAD OJT student in 2023 and returned the following year as an intern. He’s gained valuable experience creating both customer and in-house prints used to quote and build tooling. He also worked side-by-side with toolmakers on the shop floor, seeing his designs come to life.

We’re looking forward to having him back this summer for more hands-on projects.
