Intern Spotlight: IT Department

Welcome to the first installment of Gemini Group’s “Intern Spotlight” series, created to celebrate our bright young interns as they build the skills they need to thrive in today’s workplace. The series will feature new interns each week, grouped by Gemini Group location.

 

This week we’re highlighting a tech-savvy group working in Gemini’s IT department. They are just seven of Gemini Group’s 33 summer interns spread among nine locations and 26 departments. Stay tuned to meet more talented young professionals in next week’s edition.

Josh Robinson – IT Intern

Secondary Education: Bad Axe High School

 

Post-Secondary Education: Michigan Technological University

 

Area of Interest: Computer Engineering

 

Internship Goals: To learn new skills with computers and to interact with new colleagues.

 

Interesting Fact: Josh is a National Merit Scholar and graduated at the top of his high school class.

Wil Hobkirk – IT Intern

Secondary Education: Bad Axe High School

 

Post-Secondary Education: Michigan Technological University

 

Area of Interest: Computer Science

 

Internship Goals: To learn many new things, form workplace bonds, gain experience in his area of study, and become a semi-independent worker.

 

Interesting Fact: Wil was a co-op with the IT department before his internship. His body functions with one kidney.

Post-Secondary Education: Ferris State University

 

Area of Interest: Computer Networks and Systems

 

Internship Goals: To gain work experience, improve communication skills, become self-sufficient, and gain new workplace skills.

 

Interesting Fact: Connor is a Pro Rocket League player.

Secondary Education: Bad Axe High School

 

Post-Secondary Education: Saginaw Valley State University

 

Area of Interest: Computer Science

 

Internship Goals: To obtain work experience, build upon workplace communication skills, and learn new things.

 

Interesting Fact: When Adam is off the clock, he enjoys playing basketball.

Scott Angst – IT Intern

Secondary Education: Elkton Pigeon Bay Port High School

 

Post-Secondary Education: Saginaw Valley State University

 

Area of Interest: Computer Science

 

Internship Goals: Gaining on the job experience that college cannot cover.

 

Interesting Fact: When Scott is not working on computers, he enjoys learning about metal working with his family.

Tyler Czekai – IT Intern

Secondary Education: Cass City High School

 

Post-Secondary Education: Not yet decided

 

Area of Interest: Not yet decided

 

Internship Goals: To gain work experience.

 

Interesting Fact: Tyler is a proud Red Hawk athlete, playing both the basketball and baseball at Cass City High. He’s also a member of the Cass City Robotics team as a builder, a member of the National Honor Society, and a season ticket holder for University of Michigan football.

Secondary Education: Bad Axe High School

 

Post-Secondary Education: Central Michigan University

 

Area of Interest: Computer Science, Mathematics

 

Internship Goals: Put prospective supplier form on Gemini’s website, start RFID project at ULC, start work on incorporating machine learning into Gemini Group, and polish computer re-imaging script.

 

Interesting Fact: Josh is very interested in the Artificial Intelligence side of computer science. When he is not studying or working, he enjoys playing Quidditch.
